Writing Around Others [Questions at End] - Comments

  • I'm the same way. I can't write if people are around. If people ARE around, I put my back to the wall and type so obviously no one can see me. No one knows I write fanfictions, or write anything in general.

  • I'm the same. I can write when my sister is in the room (she's got a Mibba account anyway) but I can't write if she can see my screen and I have no idea why.

    1. My friends know I mod on a writing site. I don't know if they made the connection between me being on a writing site and me writing though. I think Karen has an inkling, but I've never shown her any of my work. And there's no way they'd ever be allowed to know that I write fanfic. I'd be laughed at something awful.

    2. Oh wait..kind of answered it above. They've never read any of my stuff. If that ever comes up in conversation, I'll need to ensure it steers away because I'm not okay with them reading my stuff and I have no idea why. I don't think my writing would bother any of them though, we all have our weird and quirky hobbies and one of my friends is studying English and I think she writes too, so she wouldn't have any issues with it.

    3. I answered this one above as well, genius move Victoria. Facepalm As I said above, nope. I can del if they aren't looking at me or can't see my laptop screen but when they can, I refuse to write.

  • 1. Everyone knows I write but I never show them my work. My friend knows I write fanfics because I wrote a oneshot with her a loooong time ago but I think she forgot all about it.
    2. Answered it above, oops!
    3. I absolutely do no feel comfortable! I have to be alone to write or at least have them facing my laptop away from me while I write.

  • 1. Yes and yes.

    2. None of my friends really care, I guess. Like I talk to them about writing but none of them write themselves so they listen when I talk, but that's it. My one friend was reading my first fanfiction but she never finished, and then not too long ago she said in a Skype chat that she thinks fanfiction is weird and that it's ruining the original idea, so I guess that's that lol.

    3. As long as they don't read my stuff, sure. But like, my online friend and I text and we're writing wrestling fanfiction together over the phone, and she's turning them into actual stories. And see, I never used to write sex, but with her I am, so if anyone read those conversations I would die. So that I like to not do around people, but if I'm sitting at my computer just writing a story around others than it's fine lol.

I'd rather read romance than live it and I'm not sure they'd understand.
That sums me up preeeetty well, not gonna lie. My friend even said I'm "currently asexual." Right. Well.

    1. Yes to both. I let them read my stuff and before, they would even ask for it before I'd offer it.
    2. They think I'm good at it. . .? I mean, of course your friends are going to tell you you're good at "insert hobby here" so I don't really think it counts. XD They also will ask if I'm writing anything new, which is nice.
    3. I used to but not as much now. Before, I would write in public spaces freely but now that I'm older, I get more shy about it. Mostly because people will ask what I'm writing about.

  • 1. I don't write fanfiction. :) But yeah, they know. They...all know. Although I wouldn't call them all "friends", more like...acquaintances who I can have conversations with but I don't hang out with outside of whatever...
    2. A couple think it's cool. Yeah, my writing's been passed around a couple times irl years ago. No one's read anything recently though. In real life. I mean.
    3. As long as it's not my parents, yeah.
