I think when it comes to reading sex scenes I want to know about the character/s's feelings, emotions, thoughts and reactions, not just the mechanics of who's doing what. I want to know the why of the sexual acts, not just the what.

For example in one of my own stories, the sex is about getting out anger and sorrow, it isn't actually about the act of sex. So, that's what I enjoy.

As any other scene in a story should further the plot, so should a sexual scene. [Unless you're writing pure porn, obviously].

See, there's the difference between me and you, I always have the intentions of smut in my stories but it seems like I never make it to it then give up on the stories. But I'm guessing that if I did write a lot of smut I would have the same problem as you.

So my advice is (and take into consideration I haven't read any of your work) keep it fresh. Make sure it's real, so real that when a person reads it, it reminds them of that feeling. And be creative with it. That's what I like at least. ^_^
