That was extremely wrong for her to say on so many levels. Until she actually saw you hurt the baby or show signs of wanting to hurt him, then she shouldn't have said anything. You can't just judge someone just because they don't want children. You are old enough and responsible enough to handle a baby. And why would you shake the baby anyway? If the baby started to get on you're nerves you could have just gave him back to his daddy, and walked away. She should have known better to say that anyway. Joking or not. That was very immature. And I hope I don't make you upset for talking about her like this, I don't mean to disrespect her in any way. But she should have been more kind to you, and worried about you're feelings. The way I see it is, innocent until proven guilty. Until you hurt the baby, she shouldn't have said anything.

Your cousin is a new dad, so I could see why he got so nervous about someone else's comment, even if it was a rude and untrue one. A lot of people in my family are at the baby-having stage in life and I noticed one simple comment makes the new parents scared. Hopefully your cousin will mellow out over time.

As for your grandma who started it, that was way out of line and I agree with hannahdollx. You should say something to her (and your cousin to calm his nerves).

I most likely would have said something. That's was not a cool thing to say at all. I'm not ready to have baby yet, but that doesn't mean I'm going to hurt a baby....that's really ignorant for someone to say that you or even at all.
