Creepy Fan Fiction? - Comments

  • I've written fan fiction about my friend and a band member, with her permission.
So I guess it's more of a thing of if your have permission and if they know. Also the content. It'd be incredibly creepy if you wrote a sex scene that included your best friend, to me at least.

  • I agree with Johnny'sGirl. I think most band fic people write are based on the perception of a celebrity's public persona and in that way kind of fictionalizes them.

As a rule, I try not to judge fan fiction of any kind because whatever people want to do creatively and share with the world and that doesn't actively harm people shouldn't be discouraged. Fan fiction shows a real dedication to writing, I mean, you can't really capitalize on it and the only reward you can get for it is a fanbase and some comments/reviews if you even publish it at all. It could be the weirdest, most invasive thing ever, but ultimately it's only as harmful as any other media.

  • Personally, band fiction creeps me out when it involves real girlfriends/wives or children - unless they're famous. I won't hate on the people who write it, but I would never read or write it myself.

I love writing band fiction, but I write about the guys's public personas, and even if I know the name of their girlfriends/wives and children, I'll make up characters 'cause I wouldn't feel good writing about people who just happened to have a famous boyfriend/husband/father...

  • I think the word "creepy" is thrown around a lot as a backup insult, especially in different shipping sides of the fandom. PERSONALLY, I think I'd only find it creepy if, like you said, you were writing about people you actually had an acquaintance with.

  • @ so messed up
Creepy and scary aren't really the same thing. You can be creeped out by something and not be scared of it XD

  • Seriously I don't think any of this is legitimately creepy unless you're like myrdering the person in your story. I think if most people read fiction about themselves (famous or not) they might be like "whoa that's weird" but if they're seriously scared that's just stupid.

  • I've met Ronnie Radke, Ryan Seaman, Max Green, Jacky Vincent, and Derek Jones... I still write about them. I've also met Jeffree Star, and since he told me he loved me, I stopped writing about him. (Although I'm tempted to write a oneshot about him and Ronnie. And him and Jayy Von Monroe)

  • I agree with this 100% :)

I mean, I've met Ronnie Radke a few times, but I continue to write about him.
I agree though, writing about friends and teachers and stuff is creepy. So if (in a perfect world) Ronnie and I got together, I would stop writing about him (and his friends) and just fall totally in love with him in real life. hah.
