The rice from Chinese places can usually last someone a good few days. XD On the bright side, it'll save you money. :P

Yeah. Very minimal dishes at Chinese places are mixed together. A lot of Asian restaurants are meticulous about the food being separate, which is why I like their business practice so much. Even if you ask them to combine it, they'll usually tell you no. x) I'd recommend trying a different place next time because this one doesn't seem to be an overly good place to order from. .v.

There are some places like that around here as well. Oddly enough though... None of them do takeout. xP I think the only one that stays open late and does takeout is Denny's, but you still have to actually go to the restaurant and get it because they don't deliver. If you're going to drive there to get food at 1 am, it's better to just eat at the restaurant lol.

Well, as Airi. mentioned, delivery costs the store money, and I completely understand that they won't bother for a couple bucks.

Here, in a big city, pizza stores charge us about 3 euros/pizza for delivery, and they won't deliver orders that are less than 12 euros.
It's expensive, but I'm not forced to pay, I could just walk a mile, pick up my pizza and pay it 9 euros instead of 12. I did it a few times, I got 3 pizzas for a couple euros more than 1 would've cost me with delivery, but... it was a pain to bring them home and they were cold by the time I got there.

So, I don't mind paying a little more 'cause it's worth it. Besides, the delivery guys here mostly are students, and I like to think that when I order stuff, I help them keep their job so they can pay for unii.

I've never had stuff already mixed together, course I already had a bowl of salad. Things run really late here, it's crazy there one place (don't remember what they make off top of my head), but they open some time in the p.m. and stay open till like late in the a.m.

Yes, the industry may be big but that doesn't mean it's big enough to cover the costs of transportation without a minimum requirement. There's also the fact that Chinese food generally tends to be pretty cheap. It's usually why many people on a budget turn to Chinese eateries, because they're cheaper than other places. The fact that prices at many Chinese eateries are lower also cuts into the budget and forces them to have a minimum requirement for delivery. I mean, for comparison... When my family orders from Dominoes, we can be charged $40 to $50 for roughly four or five items whereas if we ordered Chinese, we often get it for under $30 for the same number of items because their food is priced cheaper than places like Dominoes is. They're more reliable too; Dominoes is godawful at reliability... But that's a different subject. XD

I'm not sure what you meant by the last part of the comment to be honest. ^^" Do you mean the chicken was on top of the salad? Which is certainly weird if so. Most Chinese places I know usually keep their dishes separate unless it's specified on their menu that it's all in one. Maybe that's just a thing where I live though.

Off topic but this blog is kind of making me want Chinese. I haven't had it in a while... Except it's 11:30 at night which would be a bad idea to order.... Not that any Chinese places are even open at this hour. x)

Everything is big in this area (maybe not big city big), but its still fairly large. I'm not sure how many Chinese places or pizza places, but there is quite a few and many of them are chains. The chicken I got, for some reason they put salad peace's down before the chicken and I don't quite understand why they did that.

It's actually not unfair that they would require you to buy a minimum of $10 in order to deliver. A lot of restaurants will do this because they need to make a profit. You need to remember that when a company delivers, it costs them more than in-store dining does. They have to pay for the gas for the transportation. Gas can be expensive depending on where you live and how far away you're ordering from. For Chinese restaurants in particular, this is a pretty big thing. Pizza places don't need it because pizza is huge but everything else is smaller. Even Chinese takeout which is fairly popular would still need to have this policy to make the proper profits. Most Chinese places do this; I live in a city where there's a high Chinese population and thus, a lot of Chinese eateries. They all have minimum payment requirements if you're asking for delivery. If you don't want a minimum requirement then, to be completely honest, pizza most likely is your only option.

So it actually is completely fair of the company to ask you to order at least $10 worth of food before they'll deliver to your house. They need to make a profit.

As for the rice.... I think most Chinese places do that. Rice is very big with Chinese eateries. It's involved in nearly every dish so they do give a lot of it to their customers because it's assumed their customers will want the rice since it is a main part of many Chinese dishes.

I get they need to make money, but I don't understand why they had to put that extra rice in a big box. Guess I should asked the woman if they could put it in a small box, but I don't know if they would had done it.

I think that's fair otherwise they wouldn't be able to make a profit. It's sorta like when you wanna buy something on eftpos at a store and their minimum spend is $10.
