What a lot of people don't understand is that John Francis Daley ASKED to be written off the show. He had other projects going on (directing something somewhere I think?) and he was ready to move on. The simplest and most dramatic way to do that is to kill him. It had fuel to the fire for the team and it leaves no impression that he'll be back.
I understand a lot of people are mad, but to be honest, this is all a part of story telling. They work in a very dangerous field and the idea that none of them would ever die is a bit unrealistic. It's comparable to Harry Potter, wherein a LOT of main characters were killed: Dumbledore, Sirius, Remus, and Fred. It's painful and shocking like it's SUPPOSED to be, because that's how life is.
Personally, I still love Bones and it will always remain one of my top shows. The premier was one of the best I've seen in shows BECAUSE of the death. But ten seasons is a good run. There is only so much you can do with shows like this and they've pretty much done it all. I'm not happy it's ending, but I am excited to see how they end it.
