I'll have to try and read that book sometime ^_^
And now I think I may have heard about that movie before. I'll look up a trailer for it today :D

It looks really good but it's a bit different from the book, which I totally recommend! :) I wasn't too into it, but then I watched the trailers a couple times and was like "I need this movie now". Haha.

The Last Five Years has Anna Kendrick in it, if you know who she is, she was in Pitch Perfect and Into The Woods (more musicals).

Ah, haha, Channing Tatum, I'll have to check it out. Cute

    @ bayard rustin;
I myself have little to no knowledge of BDSM or the community. I had no idea it was portayed so wrongly in the book though that does explain some things. Either way I'm surprised to hear that, and I can see your point. ^_^

    @ Airi.
Along the same lines as bayard rustin, I can see your point. I don't particularly care to pay to see the movie myself >.>
And I think, for me, it would be a weird movie to watch. I have no idea how they are going to create the 'kink' scenes >.<

    @ vaporwave
-laughs- I was thinking the same thing! XD

    @ DarkestStorm
I saw the preview to that recently! It looks really funny and I can't wait to see it as well. :D
I'm not sure what The Last Five years is though. Jupiter Ascending is a sci-fi futuristic movie staring Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis. I'm not really sure what the plot is, but they had me at Channing Tatum XD

I'm excited for The DUFF (which is based on the same titled book (The DUFF: Designated Ugly Fat Friend by Kody Keplinger) and The Last Five years, a movie adaption of the musical. As for 50 Shades, I couldn't care less. I haven't heard of Jupiter Ascending but Seventh Sun looks somewhat interesting.

Considering the books perpetuate a culture that has literally killed women, no.

But I imagine seeing it in theatres would be a lot of middle-aged women gasping and clutching their pearls at literally everything.

I will not be paying to see the movie; I won't give my money to people who exploit an entire community. I do want to see it to see how they're going to execute the kink scenes, but I'll probably be watching a pirated version online because I will not give my money to this movie.

Personally, my concern for the movie is the one bayard rustin has. The book itself has already caused damage to the BDSM community by marketing an abuse novel as a BDSM novel. It's taken advantage of a misunderstood community and spread misinformation about the community. I've seen a truly alarming number of people, specifically women, who think submissives are sub-human and don't have any say in the relationship - because that is the shameful way 50 Shades portrayed submissives. To me, it is things like that that make this movie concerning to me and alarming to me. It's harming the reputation of the kink community, spreading blatant misinformation, and giving people dangerous misinformation.

On that note... Whether it will be weird or not is up to you. It'll only feel weird if you let it feel weird.

I have a concern about how it's gonna affect the BDSM community. The book has already led to many misconceptions about it, and the movie [probably] will amplify that.

Yet, at the same time,I am highly curious as to how the movie is executed.
