@ Xia; Well I don't really see the abuse in it (in the movie), I do see that Christian Grey is an manipulative a**h**e, but then again not as bad as in the books. But different opinions! :) I hate the people who just can't accept that people have diferent opinions, and the ones who says that everybody who watched the movie are voting for/saying okay to abusive relationships, and that's just not true.... I don't know why I just said that, I guess I just wanted to :P
@ Jensen Ackles; Hey, its okay to disagree on opinions! I actually heard that the movie didn't depict the abuse as much, but I don't see that as a reason to like it anymore, just my opinion. :)
Okay so first of, I'm actually (sorry about that) a fan of 50SG, and I kinda disagree with most of the things you say in the video, BUT I gotta say that I really love the Vlog! xD
Anyway as said, I'm a fan. I'm not gonna comment on that whole BDSM thing, because I know absolutely nothing about it. Or at least not enough to make a statement. Well I went to the movies to watch it, and I agree with you: "I think it's awkward", let me tell you: Words can't describe how awkward it was!
To what I'm going to say now, people will probably be like: "Urgh, she's one of those girls *eye-roll*": The books are way worse on the abuse/rape-part than in the movie! The thing I really disliked in the movie was when Christian "punished" Ana by whipping her - I really didn't like that... But then again, she left right after so that's good.
Yeah well, I'm gonna watch the next two movies as well. I'm just one of them xD
Hey! I don't know if you know but 50SG was a fanfiction for twilight (hence the similarities *cough cough* ) before it became a "romance" of itsown... I read it as fanfiction at the time and some parts of it were just gross! I never read it as a book or it's sequels so I can't say if it improved some, but going on what I read, I totally agree with you. I remember being creeped out when I read the scene where he followed her to another city where she was having a weekend with her mom! Like, please, he put some tracking thing on a phone he gave her, so he knew where she was at all times! And I heard people saying that's romantic! ewww Anyway, you're not alone in not wanting to see the movie...
I refuse to go see the movie, I downloaded the books because I was curious about it and some of the excerpts were just too funny to ignore. I mean the author referred to Ana's butt-hole to a "chocolate starfish" what the hell?! LOL
The book is a mess to be honest, starting off as a twilight fan fiction wasn't bad enough to had to no do research on BDSM. I've had people tell me my sex life must be boring if I don't like the book/movie, that I should get laid. Then I've had people tell me that Ana saved him from him from himself and made him a better person. Like no, its not anyone's job to fix anyone. He bought the company she worked at so he could stalk her more, told her she could never escape because he had money and she'd never be able to hide. He was STALKING and threatening her in the worst way possible Christian grey is a abuser, an abuser with money which is 1000x worse because no matter what Ana will never be safe because his money can buy anything wants.
If there was a fourth book it'd be about Christian Grey getting away with murdering her.
@ Mads. Hey, just because you're younger doesn't mean you can't have a valid opinion of something. People can't always understand just because THEY think its the greatest thing in the world, you won't. Its annoying sometimes. Especially over something that can be so...negative.
@ TrAp DeMoN Oh, boy...I just don't understand people
@ LettersToNormandy HOW can people support this?? The more I hear, the more wonder about people's standards and what they believe is a general rightfulness of treating someone. My friends that like this and know full well what it implies...I don't know if I can look them in the eye. And that was stupid of Grammy's. Are you kidding me? -_-

I don't trust anyone who views the content of those books as BDSM/romance.
"I’m a sadist, Ana. I like to whip little brown-haired girls like you because you all look like the crack whore—my birth mother."
So you're telling me that this controlling man who says whats above isn't abusive/controlling/many other awful things? BDSM isn't taking your mommy issues out on women who look like her. That's just straight up abuse in my opinion.
I've seen women who have been in abusive relationships get called 'crazy feminists' for stating that the contents of the book mirror the mental and emotional manipulation that contributed to what they went through.
Not to mention I was highly disgusted the Grammy's had the nerve to have a little segment about domestic abuse and then SPAM THE 50S0G TRAILER.
Like bro that's the stuff you're saying is bad why are you even.
Seriously, this whole vlog explains pretty much every single reason I do NOT want to see it. It's honestly not my kind of thing. I know, I'm young, but everyone I know talks about how amazing it was, and how they cannot wait to see it. I'm over here like, "No. Have you even read the plotline?" It honestly sound horrendous. I know some people might think horrendous is an overstatement, but that it how I feel.
I've never picked up the book, nor watched a trailer, but I have read the plot, and it really doesn't interest me. Fifty Shades doesn't at all fall under my category of books that I'd like to read.
@ delirium. I thought the writing was horrid myself. Completely agree.
@ Quiescent. Yeah, I agree. I posted the video because everyone's opinion to NOT go see it was overtaken by those who did and I felt like they weren't really getting a fair say.
@ TrAp DeMoN Exactly. I don't understand why people don't see that. Are we really so blind to what is considered rape? I had a guy friend comment "I loved that movie!" when I posted my video on Facebook. I really don't think he watched it, but either way, he was obviously mocking my opinion.
I'm a huge fan of BDSM, even in my personal life, BUT 50 Shades of Grey isn't BDSM-- it's actually rape. But that's my opinion, and I actually read all three books (and I unfortunately own all three too).
1. He practically stalks her. 2. He rapes her because he ignores the fact she uses her safe word. 3. While she's drunk and I mean REALLY drunk; he undresses her without her consent.
But this is just my opinion and I respect everyone's opinion on the subject :3
Oh and the Twitter account for the book admitted it was abuse.
I'm not a fan of BDSM, so that's my reason. LOL. Simple as that, really, not going to stir the pot by trying out a movie I'm not interested in, in a subject I'm not interested in.
I don't usually mind romance... movies, however I cannot read a book focused purely on romance because it bores the hell out of me... and I feel almost like the only one who wants to gag at 50 shades.... the excerpts I read were horrendously cruddy. I just... ugh. Dont see the hype.
I've seen some people even threaten losing friendships over the series like... I don't get it.
There's like a handful of romcoms that I have seen and didn't mind, but I usually just avoid anything with romance all together. And I've done the same thing. It was painful.
I don't really mind romantic comedies, because some of them are really funny. Romance novels on the other hand I avoid like the plague. I just can't read romance. The girl just always comes off whiny in my head and maybe its the way that the author wrote the character sometimes, but I just can't read it. I actually picked up 50 Shades off the shelf in a store one time and read a section, and I just had to stop because it was ugh.
