It's a Wonder, Random Question - Comments

  • Sometimes I subscribe to something but don't intend to read it for a while, so I don't recommend it just yet. Then, when I get around to reading it, I'll rec it if I read through and enjoyed it.

Sometimes, recs don't go through. You click the button and nothing happens. It's the same with subscriptions, but it's somewhat easier to tell if that went through because you'll see the story being updated in the story page and wonder why Mibba didn't tell you it was updated :P

  • Aside from the possible explanations below, I'll add that I think some subscribers are users who solely use the site to read stories on (and subscribe to get email alerts for updates), so they don't do anything else with their account including rec'ing stories.

There are probably quite a few reasons that make someone only subscribe, but at least there are plenty of people who do rec stories, as well as the commenters, that we can be grateful for Cute

  • I think if you have subscribers who don't rec' the story (so, for example, if you have more subscribers then recommendations), it might be that some people who've subscribed are interested enough in the story to want to see where it goes, but not sold enough yet to want to rec' it to other people.

It could also be that some people who haven't even begun to read the story have subscribed as a way to save it for later reading.

Or some subscribers might pin the story as a guilty pleasure and be a little embarrassed to let others know they're reading it.

  • I've often wonder that too but often times the number of reccs is reflects part of your subscribers. At least that's how I see it.
