Honestly... This is the way Mibba has always sort of been. It has never been easy to get feedback on Mibba regardless of whether you write fanfiction or original fiction. Mibba has always been a smaller site. Users on this site have never been able to just update and expect people to come to their story. Users have always had to work for the feedback by giving back to the community in order to receive. Users have always had to do things like comment swaps or advertising their stories in order to attract readers. Have you tried advertising your stories before? There's a lot of threads in the forums to advertise in and you can even make blogs to advertise. Granted, this may not get you a lot of readers but that has nothing to do with you personally. It's merely because Mibba is a lot less active than it was in the past. With less users, there is going to be less feedback.

With that said, fanfiction does not always mean someone is going to get a lot of readers. If they write in a popular fandom then sure, they're going to get a lot. But they're also writing in a popular fandom so it makes sense. I personally have always written in more unpopular fandoms. I've always written in anime or J-rock fandoms that certainly don't attract a lot of readers. Now while I don't post much on Mibba anymore because I'm not really active around here much anymore, when I was active, I actively did things like comment swaps and reccing the stories out to people. It helped my stories get more recognition and more people interested, you know?

To be honest, I don't read a lot on Mibba and that's because there's very little on Mibba that interests me. A lot of stories on Mibba are romances and I have trouble reading a romance that isn't a yuri. I have a harder time getting interested in the story and gaining a connection with the characters of a het or slash stories, so I tend to stick with yuri if I'm reading romance and there's just not a lot of that. I'm not even big on romance. A lot of what I read is horror and horror is not the most popular on Mibba. Even if someone does like horror, it's usually about vampires or zombies which I personally do not consider to be horror stories. I'm not obligated - nor is any other user - to read someone's story because they may have worked hard on it. That's great and all. I understand putting your everything into a story and wanting feedback. But if I'm not interested then I'm not interested, and I'm not going to pretend to be.

I think it's good that you took a step back and really thought about all of this before deciding to leave Mibba. ^.^

aha that's fine. As long as you comment on someone else's stories or on blogs they'll still see your links. ^^ Just keep on trying and don't give up.

That's kind of the problem though... (read what I said below you). I mean, I guess I shouldn't really make it an excuse. I really have tried though. Most of the stories that have interested me are from ages ago and don't even get updates or anything. I can't really force myself to become interested in a story without some exploding from pressuring myself. x_x

Also, I'm not really writing for that. I just think a little bit of feedback is nice, at least to let the person now they are doing. It doesn't matter if they just subscribe or recommend or what. :/

Also, I guess I was being a little harsh on fanfictions then. I just see that most of the ones I look at have a dozen comments and such.

Just to play devil's advocate here: how often to you comment of recommend something you like reading? I clicked on your profile, and I didn't see much in the recommendation section! If you're tired of not receiving support, then lead the way by supporting others! Try the offensive approach; quitting Mibba won't help you. You will still receive no feedback resulting in a lose-lose situation.

Secondly, I think if you're writing for other people's appreciation, you're writing the wrong way. You should be inspired about what you're writing and like it! That's how other people will become interested.

Thirdly, yes I know Fan Fiction is more popular. The percentage of Original Fiction on Mibba is dwindling, and while fan fiction is certainly more active, it's not like they get a whole lot of love either. I think it's just easier for someone to search "sex with mcr" into the search bar, and then come up with results.

Any who, I hope you make the right choice. Either way, there's no point to quitting or being upset about it. Be inspired, inspire others, write what you want, and just enjoy your own journey!

    @ Hina;
Eh... comment swaps are hard for me. Since I'm autistic and also have ADHD, I can't read an entire story without having a short attention span or lack of interest. >< I guess I can see what the poster under you is saying with this. Then again, it's not because the story didn't interest me, but it's mostly because the topic OF the story doesn't interest me. I've always wanted to do comment swaps, but I've never been able to find anything that can really get me interested. D: I guess my only option is putting it in my sig or something. However, I don't really post much on the forums either. ><

Hi! I read your blog and I just wanted to say that it's not just Original Fiction that's hurting. There's some fanfiction (lesser known/unpopular ones) that aren't getting any comments, reccs, or subs either. But maybe if you participated in some comment swap blogs that people post once in awhile? You can also advertise your stories in your blog, signature, and in the forums too.

I mean there's some truth to that, but it's not major. People like fanfiction because they already have something in common with it, but they don't stick with it because of that reason. I write fanfiction and I get nothing from my readers either right now. My readers decrease with every chapter.

& the thing is, readers aren't obligated to stick with something because the "person worked hard on it". Part of writing is writing something that people are going to remain interested in. If not, you're writing just for yourself.

But it's not just comments though. I'm already aware of that issue. I'm talking about subscribing and recommending. It seems like people read a story, then they just drop it and walk away. No one cares to take into consideration that the person worked hard on it. I feel like it's always the fact that people appreciate fanfiction a little more than the original stuff. :/

You can't think about it like that. People aren't not commenting because they don't like you. I don't think anyone's getting comments. I know I'm certainly not.

Hm. Okay fine. XD I think right now, I just need to try and work on my current story some more. It doesn't help that Charahub is currently down. So, I can't develop my characters. x_x

I'm still thinking about it. :/ I'm just really upset right now is all... I might just make a new account and start fresh, but I don't know of Mibba would allow this.
