Freedom of Religion - Comments

  • Update, she was expelled because when the principal tried to tell her that punching students in the face wasn't allowed, she said that she didn't care and that she'd do it again if given the chance. I'm seriously wondering wtf is wrong with this girl but yeah. At least I no longer have to deal with religious fanatics with a chip on their shoulder.

    I thought so, too.

And there's nothing she can say, really.

Honestly, I thought we as a species were a little beyond the whole bashing someone's face in if you don't agree with them. You know, more evolved than Cro-Magnon man and all that.

Not at all looking forward to it though. What even can she try to say to excuse her actions? "Sorry, but I had a little Agnostic Panic"? "I'm the One and all must bow to my supreme beliefs"?

I'm in the same boat. And I'm like you, I pretty open about it. I've been known to piss a few people off, but I've never been physically attacked.

Well, that will surely be an interesting conversation.

Agreed -- I simply have no clue what I believe in (I'm 90% sure there's some greater power (who/what they are eludes me) so I don't feel comfortable pledging to something that I feel might not even exist or at least exist as the God Christians follow.
Once she comes back from her suspension the administrator is going to sit us both down and 'get to the root of the problem'. It's like in grade school when you'd sit the kids down until the bully apologizes XD

  • I don't care for religion particularly much either, but I still think it's a good concept; everyone has something they believe in. I can sort of understand being so abrasive as she seemed to be, but out right punching you in the face was needless. Violence is almost always needless, unless it's strictly for self-defense in the case that someone attacks you first, and you clearly didn't attack her. Just stated your opinion.

I hope you get to feeling better. I really hope they made that girl apologize.

Agreed. Religion's a whole bag of mixed individuals. Sometimes you get the sweet ones, sometimes you get the psychos. That's life.
Honestly, in a few weeks I'll probably find all this funny, but thank you for the kind words.

  • Its funny how people whose religion preaches tolerance and acceptance are the people who do neither where as those of are without religion (I'm in that boat with you) are tolerant and accepting. I'm generalizing because I know both sides have those who are and aren't.

Edit: I should also wish your face fast healing and I hope it feels better soon.
