How Do You Do It | NaNo - Comments

  • OH! Yeah there are some things given to participants, but even more to "winners" but people are always giving away codes so like say you don't win - someone will probably be posting to give away codes, maybe for something you want! So really, everyone's a winner c:

I totally didn't realize they give out anything. I assumed it was just the joy of accomplishing a goal.

  • I think one of the most important parts about doing NaNo is to remember: YOU DON'T HAVE TO MAKE IT TO 50K!! I'm going to do a pep talk because you can get a badge if you do one in the forums this year, but I'll post it here too. One thing I've noticed, even with myself, is that the idea of getting to 50k or failing is a big part of what makes some of us fail. Yeah it's great to do 50k in a month, but it's not the most important thing!

Just have fun, get some writing done, attend a regional thing if you're able to - you'll see what I mean if/when you sign up - and just do you. And if you make it to 50k, rejoice over the free 3 months of Evernote premium and any other goodies they hand out haha

  • @ cleopatra.
Both of those stories sound incredibly interesting! I had an idea for a story if I choose to do NaNo, but it's nowhere near as original or interesting as those sound. I want to do a sort of modern day Bonnie and Clyde story, but in a realistic light. They loved each other, but the story really isn't as romantic as the media made it sound. And I'd like to write something from the realistic prospective with original characters, of course. Cute

But I'm lazy so no guarantees.

And I'm not sure what it was. I'm thinking maybe 24 hour flu because it knocked my ass out for about that long and now I'm feeling a bit better, but my stomach isn't quite right.

  • not doing college this semester but am working over time @ the office. there is no magical pill, just a lot of pre-planning (for me) or winging it (for others) & then going back to revise/re-write. im actually working on two stories for nano. wicked was my fan fic turned original. i decided to bring it back up since it was my second story ever completed on this website. & my writing has matured a lot + the plot in itself is mature. it's basically about the head of the korean secret service investigating the assassination of the president. nemesis orion is my prime focus which is about a blood-thirsty mercenary that begins to recruit people who basically have no other chance in life (ex: drug addicts/prostitutes/criminals) & creates them up to be part of the nemesis clan. & it involves her betrayal later on in the story on how she turns on the "family". very technical.

you know, i actually won last year but i didn't update the word count in time. bummer, but oh well. also here's my nano profile in case you have one & need some more inspiration. i haven't posted my nano blog yet, but im hoping to talk more about plans for it soon & what im hoping to do. i hope you feel better though, that sounds horrible. guess we're in the same boat. @ a job we hate, behind in school (im in community college, haven't attend for a year. jokes on me). are you sick w/ anything specific or?
