Always be aware of due dates. Put them on your calendar and try to do all your homework (if it's a small assignment) the weekend before it's due so you don't have to worry about it the night before. I have a lot of reading responses for all of my classes due each week, and if I left them to the night before, I would go crazy.

DON'T DO ANYTHING THE NIGHT BEFORE. EVER. It will stress you out more than anything in the entire world. I'm sure you know this, but since it's so important, I have to say it.

If you have any questions about your class, don't be afraid to visit your professors office hours or email them. They're paid to help you and I assure you, they don't want to see you fail. They will try to do everything they can to help you understand what they're teaching.

Try to keep your notebooks organized. I have a notebook for each class and have dividers that tell me what's behind the divider. In the folder, I have the syllabus printed, along with the calendar of assignments, a divider for homework, any notes, and any readings and articles that I have to print out or that the teacher gives me. It helps a lot when all of your stuff is organized and easy to get through.

Another pro tip -- if you have essays / reports in, do not leave them until the last minute because it's just not fun at all. I was told when I started uni that all-nighters were the essence of uni but trying to write an essay on no sleep with 30 minutes until the deadline is not fun, and I assume that it can't be healthy either, ugh.

Also, indulge in stationery. I used to buy really cheap stationery, and it ruined my entire first year of uni. My pens would run out for no reason during classes, my notepads would tear when I was writing and my sticky notes would fall off of pages and I'd be stuck. Invest in some good writing pens, a decent notepad and good sticky notes, not just the free ones they give you during freshers / orientation week. Facepalm I learned this the hard way and now I always buy good stationery if I have the money before the semester starts.

I want to give you a hug!

Thank you so much for that. I am better with managing my studies, as last semester was sort like a trial and error for me. I hate to say it, but I'm a perfectionist when it comes to studies. I've always been. And it's not because I was pressured by parents/guardians or anything but it was just me. Last semester in one of my classes, I couldn't quite get the topics and such. So somehow I pressured myself into thinking I was going to fail and all that bad stuff. Very very bad thing to do. I know that now so for future semesters, I'm going to relax more. I did join some clubs to make me at ease (singing and a club for my major) and so far, I'm doing good.

You can always talk to me, college is hard but you have to take care of yourself. Worry about the costs later, just remember you are whats important, retake that test if you have to or the whole class its better than spiraling into depression and taking weeks to get out of it.

    Thank you for this Arms

I am too an A student. I study hard, and when everything didn't go right for me I really did cry. I wasn't used to the pressure and I was really stressed. The sad thing is too that I didn't have the motivation to talk to someone about it.

Thanks for this! I subscribed lol. I'm gonna die early then because I've had shit sleep all my life. OMGYES Well, I got enough sleep, just through really fucked up sleeping patterns. XD Did like 16 hours straight once!

I can't agree through experience (yet) but I really want to be able to agree to the studying a little over a long period of time rather than cramming thing helping because I didn't go back over lectures or read them beforehand during my first semester and this caused me a lottttt of stress when it came to highly weighted (100%) essays and exams time.

Also agree with what @kitsch said about seeking advisor for help. I met with different advisors and they were all really understanding and not at all rude or judgmental. I was seriously considering quitting earlier on because it all got too much, but now I guess I'm in a better state of mind to realise that I can let the end of year grades determine whether I'll stay on at uni or quit.
Whether that's due to the meds or not, I don't know...I think it's a fortunate mix of many things, like finally going home and seeing my family and friends again and finally making a few friends at uni (I'm not even social but I seriously felt soooo alone, isolated, helpless and worthless...it was so hard without having anyone there to lean on). I know it's gonna get hard again at some point soon so it's especially good to know that these people are always available to help.

Good luck for your studies! Hug

lmfao Neither am I. I was recently inducted into an honor society within my department/major though because of my GPA. I'm like "uhhh what how." We also have junior and senior internship programs in place that are put as a course/class; junior is optional, senior is mandatory. It's pretty cool.

Good tip, one I'm not useful one because I'm not a very social person tehe . Being social in college can lead to jobs or internships in your senior year and after your graduate.

Another pro tip is to speak your advisor. Planning out four (or more) years of education is stressful and they're trained to help you with it since they've done it so many times over the years.

Also join clubs/organizations, unless you're in a sorority or whatever. There are many on campus student organizations to partake in and you can even charter your own if you're dedicated and have the means to do so.

DO NOT LOSE YOUR STUDENT ID. That shit, at least at my uni, is your means of identification besides a license.
