Oh yeah and that was forever ago! Also, having been a person who has been plagiarized multiple times, I'm actually not too-too bothered by it? None of the times were for monetary gain- if someone was making money off of it, I'd be a lot more angry. As it stands, they have really nothing to gain other than empty compliments in my opinion. c:

I don't think I've seen a story with that amount of reads in a while- mostly back in it's heyday, a lot of MCR or Avenged Sevenfold fics might've gotten there, but these days I think it'd be next to impossible, ahaha. But I think the community here is picking up a little, I've seen, which is nice!

    @ Michael Westen
I would just remind you that like any writing website, instant gratification is like, nearly impossible, ahaha. Like any site, you have to put time in, but it's time that's been really rewarding to me! c:

Most people use photoshop etc. to make their covers, if you want a really nice one. Although if you're graphically challenged like me, in their clubs section under community there's a multimedia thread, where people have little graphic shops that you can request from! Usually payment is a follow/comment, so pretty easy and a nice way to get an awesome cover! c:

    @ Steven's Lion Hina
I think certain fanfictions are also pretty niche- I'm not sure what you've posted, but I see on Mibba it's a lot of fanfic and it kind of sucks but unless it's of the boy-band variety, not a lot of fanfic really thrives on Wattpad. It's a lot more original content. So I guess you just have to find the right writing site for your stories! c:

I think every writing site takes effort to get noticed though. c:

    @ domi823
That's awesome! That's funny that your fanfic is still getting attention! But it shows that Wattpaders do take a liking to completed stories more than ongoing ones, I've gotten a lot of comments saying they're excited to start reading when I finally finish!

But yeah because of a younger audience, I have seen a lot of really mean people. I think it's just an overblown attitude that used to be rampant on Quizilla too, or any writing site with a "popular" stories section- all of those ones are crap, overrated, why aren't mine getting reads when they're better, etc. :c

I used to use Wattpad all the time! Damn this brings back memories, haha. I'm not sure why I stopped using it. I remember reading some really great stories on there. And the few I posted got a crazy amount of votes! But I do have to agree with others about how disorganized it is. There are also a lot of young people there. Nothing wrong with this, since I was about 14/15 the last time I used it, but as someone else said, they don't like rules (I remember not liking them either). Another thing I noticed is that, even though this didn't happen to me, I would read comments of other stories and some were pretty harsh. Not like constructive criticism kind of harsh. I mean comments like "this is the worst shit I ever read" and "kill yourself" kind of stuff. Maybe that's what turned me off.

But now I have to go back and check it out, lol.

Edit: The fan fiction I completed at 13 years old is still going strong, lol.

I have like two wattpad accounts (I created a second one after forgetting the password to my original one) and well, it kinda does take a lot of effort to get noticed but tbh, wattpad's site is really disorganized because I noticed that most users dont know about the button that generates new and "undiscovered" stories but then again it's hidden very well and you have to look around for it on the stories page.... I have a few stories up on my main account but I haven't been active on there. I've been meaning to get more active and update some of my stories that're on there. Wattpad feels a bit intimidating to me tbh. xD

This has made me decide to try Wattpad.

How does one go about making a cover for their story though?

Woah, really? I'm sorry that happened to you here, and I hope the one plagiarizing you was dealt with! You are definitely right. This community is large, but nothing like Wattpad. Plus, there are very specific rules on here that are definitely enforced, which can probably scare people away. I've learned that, younger people especially, don't like rules. At least, that's how I was when I was 14/15, which seems to be the main age group on sites like Wattpad.

I think the highest amount of reads I've seen on this site is 5 or 6k, which definitely isn't a lot in the grand scheme of things. I actually didn't know about the copy+paste thing on Wattpad, that's definitely a great thing to have in place as it does make it harder for people to plagiarize.

    whooops! c:
But I would give it a go, might as well!

    @ pavi largo
Definitely agree with you there! Wattpad is still giving me trouble too, ahaha. They keep changing it to make it more user-friendly, apparently, but it's not working that much. Their entire community tab is such a jumble to me!

I actually found Mibba because someone was plagiarizing me here, ahaha. But really, I think mostly the reason is exposure- it's a double-sided sword. With Mibba, your story is only reaching a small audience (in comparison to Wattpad, where stories can have 100 million reads) so I think that's why it would be less likely? I rarely see stories with over 1000 reads on Mibs. Less people see your work = less people copying it? I think Wattpad tries, you can't even copy + paste, but there's only so much you can do. It's kind of the con to having a larger audience. More feedback, but there's a cost. :c

I posted old My Chemical Romance one-shots three years ago. A lot of them took off and I'm still getting votes on them to this day. In my opinion though, Wattpad is super confusing and annoying to maneuver. It took me about a week to get used to Mibba (and then another week to get used to 'New Mibba' when it happened), but I still don't understand Wattpad.

I've also heard that Wattpad and FF.net are the two biggest writing sites that people plagiarize. I've seen tons of people on here claiming people on Wattpad reposted their stories and claimed them as their own. With Mibba, you don't really see too much of that.

I'd give it a go! c: I was on Wattpad before, didn't really give it a chance after like, 4 chapters, but then came back and I've been doing really well! Like I mentioned, it might take 10+ chapters for your story to get any real recognition, and a lot of people don't even begin a story until it's completed, because they're worried you might not finish. Your first story will always be a little slow in the beginning on there. c:

I think mostly updating + reading other people's stories (and commenting) is the best way to get your story out there. It's one of those things where for months, I was staggering reads and in the last like, 5 months they've really shot up. c: Good luck!

The forums are called clubs and they're under community. c:

Thanks! Maybe I'll give it another shot. I'd really love to get my stuff out there to a bigger audience. Especially my originals. I love Mibba, but it's hard knocks for comments and feedback. I tried to branch out last summer, but just got discouraged. Wattpad is so large and disorganized (at least it seems that way) that I really felt lost on the website.

Well that one girl wrote a harry style fic and then got like, 1 billion views + a book deal, so why not ahaha. Might as well try. c:

    @ PoeticMess.
Have a good cover (I'd cruise the multimedia forums), they have book clubs which are kind of like comment swaps, be active on forums they say (I was never active tbh).
Mostly my reads can from reading other people's stories, and when people see you commenting it kind of gets your name out there? Also updating weekly, it helps with the algorithm to get you ranked!
    Make friends! c:

I really couldn't find a way to get my story out to people on Wattpad. I have one, but I never use it for that reason. It's so hard to get any readers. Do you have any tips?

If you're not into fanfiction I'd recommend well, about any of the other what's hot lists ahaha. Fanfiction is only allowed on the one designated list, and all the other lists are strictly original fiction, so I'd take a gander there. They've got everything from Humor, Teen Fic, Romance, Sci-Fi, Fantasty, Horror, etc. And it's all original! c:

that might do it haha. I dont think I ever got past posting 5 chapters on there. Maybe someday I'll give it another chance. The thing with Wattpad though, is they have fandoms that i'm not really into. It's all one direction stories or Vampire Diaries or Justin Bieber. I don't really write much of that. I know there's more to wattpad than just that, but I don't know. I always felt out of place on there.

I found people read my story more once I had a lot of chapters, like 15+ my story really took off after that. c: I think there's so many abandoned stories so a lot of people won't even start one until it's substantially in. Did you have a good amount of chapters?

But I know what you mean, Mibba does have a home-y vibe. c:
