Well, I Quit - Comments

The thing is, if "well written" isn't what's getting the views...well, for the sake of the web site's advertising revenue, they want things that people share. People share what they can relate to, and I guess if something sounds too "professional," people find it less relatable.

Which is very frustrating to me, because clear, organized, articulate, and semi-professional sounding is kind of my style when I write in public formats. I do see posts that feel more like just someone telling you how they feel, and I see why people would find that relatable...but it just isn't my writing style. I'm feeling like maybe my writing style just doesn't mesh with this web site, period, and as long as that's the case, I won't be able to earn any meaningful revenue.

I'm giving it until the end of the week to decide, but any time I have a moment where I feel like writing for them, I just immediately feel discouraged now. I don't feel as though it's worth it, really.

  • That us so weird you're getting a "talk" from the admin because something is "too well written". Shouldn't this be what they want? What any writing agency wants? I read that article and it was so good.

I'm sorry you feel this way. I can't even imagine. You seem passionate about writing as a whole, so can I suggest maybe not giving up on this website entirely yet? Just take a break for however long you need to, and then try again. Of course, if it doesn't work out still, you do what you gotta do.

I hope everything works out in the end!
