Considering I was the only person that said this, calling me out and throwing shade at me somewhere else that I'm going to see because you disagreed is really rude. You've been here for all of four days after a two year hiatus, you said. I've been here consistently for six years. I explained what I meant more than once and as clearly as I possibly could, I apologized for maybe expressing myself differently than I actually felt about constructive criticism, and I was very respectful towards you and your opinion. What was the point of this jab?
I just meant that some people who have been on here longer and more consistently than I, have mentioned that the site has changed since the days where comments were regularly given for quality. I used your words for the exact reason that you've been here consistently and I thought your use of the word casual was actually a good way to put it concisely. It wasn't meant as shade at all, I'm sorry if it came off that way it really wasn't what I intended. I was simply mentioning that the site has changed. I apologize that it came off as shading and I suppose I could have worded it better than I did, I really didn't mean to disrespect you.

Edit: My apologies to author for this.

    1. I've only written for Mibba! When I used to write fanfiction, I got tons of comments but that's mainly because this site was way more active six years ago than it is now (and a lot of people that liked The Maine were on here too lmfao). Then I switched over to original fiction and that was a slow start, but then I started getting more comments on things I've written too. But once again, that's mainly because of activity. I haven't written much now unfortunately but that's life for ya lmao.

    2. Honestly, I don't really care. I mean of course having quality comments is nice, I would like to know what to improve upon, but I'm only on here as a hobby and don't plan to make a career out of this so it doesn't really matter to me. And it still means a lot that people would just tell me that my story is amazing or whatever and leave it at that. Like it was enough to not say anything and I can find solace in that. This is a casual writing website, after all.

    3. I'm doing alright. I'm about to graduate college in 3 weeks so that's nerve wracking Shifty

(I actually just posted a blog on this — oops, unwanted opinions — and there are some people who argued that Mibba is now a "casual" writing site and constructive feedback shouldn't be given unless asked for so, take that for what you will.)

    1. Do you write on Mibba/other writing sites? What's your experience with comments?
I still post here on Mibba from time to time, but I've never really taken to any other writing site. When Mibba was more active, I obviously got more comments and more criticism than I do now, but it doesn't really bother me tbh. I used to seek out comments more, but I don't much care for comments anymore. If I get them, I think the users and I really appreciate it.

    2. Do you think you'd prefer 10 really thorough comments, or 1000 couple word comments?
Well I would obviously much prefer 10 really thorough comments because I do love and appreciate honest feedback. But at this point honestly, it doesn't matter to me which I get because I'm going to appreciate my stuff being read and a comment being left no matter what. I know that not all people want to leave concrit, so that's cool by me. I appreciate everything that I get.

I actually haven't posted much writing online in quite a long time. For a long time (I'm talking maybe the past two years) I've been rp'ing on tumblr, sticking to the most literate groups of people I could find, and writing with them really sharpened my skills and was a good experience, but I came back here recently and hope to start posting once more in the near future. (I technically entered a contest that's deadline is Monday but I haven't even started.... maybe I got a little ahead of myself there.)

    2. Do you think you'd prefer 10 really thorough comments, or 1000 couple word comments?

10 really thorough comments. I think it means a lot when someone takes the time to actually put some thought into what they're going to say about your story. I've been off Mibba for a couple years too and just came and started trying to be active once more, but it does seem like the quality of the comments on here has declined a bit with time. I actually posted a blog on this and another user pointed out to me that Mibba has always been a casual site, and so not everyone is going to comment in-depth feedback, and I think that's a good way to describe some of the less substantive comments.

    1. Do you write on Mibba/other writing sites? What's your experience with comments?
I write here on Mibba and on ArchiveofourOwn. I used to use Wattpad, but posting a new story/chapter is a nightmare and, even with help, I still don't understand how to do it. On here, I get maybe 3 comments when I start a new story? However, with those comments, there's usually a lot offered- a lot to help me out with future chapters, and how to apply what they said to grow as a writer. On Ao3 and Wattpad, most of the comments were 2-6 words. Just a quick 'I love it!' most of the time.

    2. Do you think you'd prefer 10 really thorough comments, or 1000 couple word comments?
10 really thorough comments, definitely! I'd love to get more chunky comments, but I also understand why I don't. Honestly, I'm just happy anyone took the time out of their day to both read and comment on my work. It makes me feel happy inside.

one ) i stopped writing on mibba. i feel like people don't take writing here as seriously & since i want to become published one day, i write on my word docs instead.

i've had a few people give me their honest opinions that i really appreciate, but there are other people on here who've basically demeaned my stories because it's not purple prose & has more realistic, controversial elements like homophobia, racism, etc.

it's clear that this is a community that's more proposed on fan fiction or original's by people who enjoy writing as a hobby. which i don't have a problem with. just don't come onto my story & act like the things i write about aren't stuff that we in the real world have to deal with.

two ) ten thorough comments. like i said before, it would help a lot especially bc it would help me a lot with my writing. isn't that what constructive criticism is about anyway?

three ) i'm doing alright c: pretty proud that i'm going to be turning in my essay that i worked rather hard on. wbu?

Ah the good ole days. Probably won't ever see the site that active again imo.

    1. Technically nowhere because I've returned here and only lurked so far.

    2. I prefer quality and the hopes that when pointing out my mistakes that I'll also get pointers to what needs to be changed. I'm a bit of a ditz in that category so I need to be told exactly, to the word, or I'll have no idea what's up.

    3. I'm an aunt for the fourth time today so pretty good.

    1. I mostly just stay on Mibba because it's where I find I have a community of people who are actually interested in what I'm writing. I do have a couple things on Wattpad too, but I'm really not active. I have no idea how to get engaged on that site, so I usually quit trying after awhile.

    2. Honestly, I'd like a mix of both. I don't mind the "wow, I really like this" comments, as long as there's some concrit thrown in. I love reading about what people like and don't like though, so if I had to choose only one, it would have to be 10 thorough comments.

    3. I'm good! Just trying to stay on top of everything. :)

I do, I write on Mibba, fanfiction.net, and occasionally on Wattpad and A03. While I get a lot more comments on Fanficton.net (Which is aimed primarily at fanfics. LOL), I get better quality comments on Mibba.

    2. Do you think you'd prefer 10 really thorough comments, or 1000 couple word comments?
Probably 10 thorough comments, but a few 1k comments wouldn't hurt though but i would prefer comments that tell me how I can improve writing and whatnot.

I've really had to kind of scrutinize my own writing since Wattpad, so I know what you mean! It's very trail and error for finding out what works rather than feedback reviewing and revising. ^^

and i'm good! a little sleepy, hope your class goes okay~ learn lots!

I've actually got to answer these pretty quick or else i'll be late for class but:

    1. Do you write on Mibba/other writing sites? What's your experience with comments?
I write on mibba and once in awhile if I'm working on my HP fic I'll post on ff.net - In general my comments tend to be better on Mibba, I don't get a lot but when I do I enjoy them.

    2. Do you think you'd prefer 10 really thorough comments, or 1000 couple word comments?
10 thorough comments. Having someone just tell me they like what they're reading doesn't tell me much. I want to know what I'm doing well and what I can improve on.
