That's cool. I definitely keep that in mind. I try to be open to new fandoms myself, but ultimately I find I either get into something or I don't. XD

I actually used to really love Prince of Egypt. I never really thought of there being a fandom for it and like fic and stuff. Maybe I'll have to check that out (and your fic, of course!)

The weird thing about my love of Quantum Leap and M*A*S*H is that I didn't watch either as a kid. I occasionally watched QL on rerun when I was a teenager, but most of my watching of that show was done as an adult, and I never watched M*A*S*H until quite recently when my husband introduced me to it (and then I became way more obsessed than he was. lol)

Yeah, for sure. Like certain websites definitely do attract certain fandoms more than others. Like all of the fandoms I mentioned in the blog have communities on tumblr and AO3, but then here...not so much. I haven't tried too many other sites though. I've considered using fanfiction.net and maybe even wattpad, although I don't really like those sites too much for various reasons. But anyway, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one on here who knows the struggle!

You've seen a few M*A*S*H stories here? Or elsewhere? There are a decent amount on AO3, I know (that's primarily where I go to read and post fic nowadays.)

I've totally heard of Stargate! It's a neat show! I think I've maybe read SGA fic before if not SG1, but I get the vibe that those fandoms are kinda like that, like small and cool. I don't know if this is your experience, but I've found that the smaller fandoms I'm in tend to be more chill and less drama-filled and tend to have quality content, even if there isn't much of it.

    Thanks for commenting! Very Happy

It's always a struggle writing for fandoms that arent as active as others.
Here I struggle to get interest in my Dragon Ball Z/Maze Runner/Game of Thrones fictions, but elsewhere I get loads of attention - It's rather odd but certain websites attract certain fandoms more I think :)

(I grew up with M*A*S*H as me and my grandad used to watch the show all the time together - I've seen a few stories but generally there is barely a fandom - Which is sad :( I used to actually write small pieces for Stargate (If you know of that show) and the fandom for that was much the same as the M*A*S*H one)

Yep, I'm primarily part of the ThunderCats and X-Men and Prince of Egypt communities on Fanfiction.Net and A03 (though I think Prince of Egypt is just about come to a halt except for when I update Whispering Wings on there).

Ahaha it's cool, though. I'm always open to new fandoms, I mean it's how I got into Supernatural and this one anime called Naruto. SO if there are any shows or movies or whatever you want me to check out, I"ll definitely check them out! Cute

Aha I loved Quantum Leap and MASH as a kid. I also used to watch MacGyver and the A-Team too so I feel you on the eighties and seventies nostalgia of these shows. Aha I'm sure it's still a great show in its own way though. I mean I've watched a lot of shows that were greatly flawed but still had good characters and actors, too.

    @ Zatanna Zatara;
Oh yeah, I totally recognize that. Like I said, I really am not trying to complain. This site is skewed young and young folks tend to like stuff from their own time or that feels more relevant to them immediately, and that's just fine.

Part of me wants to write the fanfics like original fic, but part of me really doesn't. Ultimately, I am writing these fics for the audience of fellow fandom members (and, well, primarily I'm writing for myself and my own entertainment.) A M*A*S*H fan is gonna get bored reading my fic if I have to go into detail introducing all the characters and concepts, for instance. I do try to balance things a little though, like even though I am primarily writing for a knowledgeable audience I do try, with some fic more than others, to make it approachable to non-fans, at least as much as I can without making it a chore to write and a chore for fandom peeps to read.

Arms Yes! Quantum Leap love! I really do think it's a shame that more people don't seem to be familiar with that show; it's really, really good, and honestly I think it is decently timeless, at least in all the areas that count the most. But yeah, it's one of my favorite shows, and I really, really love it.

RE: M*A*S*H, if you love the movie, you may or may not love the series. Fans are often divided on that. The show is different in a LOT of ways. Personally, I have never seen the movie, but I love the series so much. In Love It's also one of my favorite shows.

I feel ya. There are small communities on tumblr for both Quantum Leap and M*A*S*H respectively, and I'm active in both of them (especially the tiny but awesome QL fandom.) Those fandoms also get love on AO3 (from a lot of the same people who are in the tumblr communities lol.) Having communities like that help, because like you have a place where people get it and pay attention to your works and appreciate them.

I suppose that's a good point. I mean, admittedly I don't think I've ever read any of your fic, but at the same time there are fandoms (Thundercats, for instance) that when I think of them I immediately think of you and all the fic you write and themes you've made. And I think that's pretty cool. (For the record, I feel that in terms of being into smaller, less known fandoms on here but doing our thing anyway, you and I are sort of kindred spirits. lol If only we had more of those small, less known fandoms in common, then we'd be set! XD)

That's a really good idea about the blogs, and it would help me accomplish my sort of goal of blogging more often. So, yeah, I might try that. I know I was trying to make themes from those fandoms or themes promoting specific fics (which I still like doing, but not all the time.)

Yay! Arms Someone else who knows about my favorite shows! As for Glee, you're really probably better off not knowing about it. lol It...well, I'll try to be nice... it was a deeply, deeply flawed show, but it had some great characters (and some great cast members that helped make the characters great!) I fell in love with certain characters (most of all Kurt, my son who I will protect from everything bad the show ever did lol) and to this day, I'm stuck writing story after story about them because I can't seem to help where the muse takes me. XD
Thank you both for your excellent comments! Arms Arms

I have a small community on Fanfiction.Net that I write ThunderCats fanfics for but compared to here, my ThunderCats fanfics get very little views. Not that I can blame anyone because ThunderCats is only more well known to those who grew up on classic eighties and nineties cartoons and/or watched the remake from 2011.

While it feels a little startling and upsetting to be the only one to write for a certain fandom, it can be kind of empowering at the same time because even if someone doesn't know what your fandom is about but yet still reads your stories for said fandom, you can still attract someone new to the fandom and they most likely will still enjoy the story regardless of knowing who the characters are.

It helps me to write blogs on my fandoms and gush over the characters because people on Mibba can associate positive things with the shows/games when I talk about them and might garner some attention for my stories. It worked for me when writing Whispering Wings. Cute

Edit: I forgot to say I'm familiar with Quantum Leap and MASH (but sadly not Glee).

I understand where you are coming from, but we need to observe that most people on these types of sites are accustomed the the stereotypical pop culture times, where they only see or like modern shows, than those classic ones, that at some point were the best within the year.

I had the somewhat same experience when I wrote and posted a story based on the movie The Covenant. IT wasn't very popular, when I did it, so not a lot of readers gave it a chance. What I did was write it like an original fiction in order to get the attention of those who were not familiar with it, even though I followed a lot of the movie.

Personally, I haven't seen Glee, because it is not in my list of interests, but I do know about Quantum Leap( Which I think is one of the best TV shows aired. It has such an amazing and unique plot, that I don't know how people nowadays are missing it. Just the other day, my boyfriend and I were thinking of buying the whole set, so we can watch it again over the summer. It's basically a show from our times.

I love the movie M*A*S*H, but I haven't seen the TV show. That movie was an icon for that era. The movie didn't really have a normal plot with conflicts like most movies do, but the silliness it held was simply amazing. We have it, and every time we watch it, I literary cry of laughter. I just love Hawkeye and Trapper John. Those are my favorite characters, and Donald Sutherland and Elliott Gould portraying them is just amazing.
