Definitely agreed. A lot of my friends have told me that they want to write too, but nothing has ever come of it. I don't know the different between me and them, but I know that this is literally the only thing I've ever wanted to do. I really the idea of creativity as an inherited gene, although I definitely think there's other factors that play in, like you mentioned before. It would be cool to know exactly why some people start writing as kids and never stop (other than they really enjoy it).

Almost exactly the same thing happened to me in regards to my writing progression (even down to the fairytales early in childhood). Something strange about my experience, though, is that I actually feel that I was writing at my best when I was about 14. I think this is because I practiced for hours every day when I was 12-14, and since then I haven't put as much effort into it. I'm just trying to get back into it so that I can practice like that again.

But yes, I agree very much with all that you said. I think that this natural talent could be the result of a gene, since creativity is a kind of intelligence (and intelligence is inherited and all).

I think it's a combination of everything you mentioned. But I do know there has to be a bit of natural-born talent and drive. Personally, I've always wanted to do this. As a child, maybe six or seven, I started rewriting fairytales in a little waitress notebook that my mom gave me. At 10-11, I got my first computer and started typing my own original fiction. At 13, I found Mibba and started writing fanfiction. This has always just been part of who I am.

I think everyone has that embarrassed feeling about their writing, until they find what they're really supposed to be writing. Once writers find something that just works, there's no embarrassment at all. But it takes time, and practice, and patience, and determination. It's a combination of so many things.
