I agree with a lot of what you've said, but I've already disagreed with the phrase "money doesn't buy happiness." There's plenty of things that money gives you that makes it easier to be happy. Like piece of mind, being able to pay for the shelter over your head so that you can sleep easy, etc.
And I will say, if there's two people, and one has plenty of money and the other has none, their lives are drastically different. People need shelter and food, which both take money. But they also need education - which takes money, transportation, enrichment, and the ability to feel like they can take care of themselves. All of these things take money. Without them, nobody is going to be very happy.
