I used to work at a resort - my mum still works there - and this sort of shit happened all the damned time. People complaining about non-existent problems in order to get cheaper rates - now they just get restaurant vouchers because the owner of the resort wasn't putting up with that shit - and people just being demanding shitheads. And the thieves. I understand taking the toiletries and the cookies and such, but stealing the pillows and the kettles? Guys, please, don't do it.

The worst room I ever had to clean was after a bachelorette party and Maker help me, I don't know what the hell they were doing in there but there was literally shit all over the bed, used condoms in the fridge and hanging from the ceiling fan and the rest of the room looked like a trash-yard. They were there for one night and it looked like it had never once been cleaned. It would have been better to just burn the chalet down and claim it on insurance (The resort has the main hotel and then an outer area with mini-houses and "honeymoon huts".) I couldn't believe what they'd done, or that they'd left it the way they had. It was probably made worse by the fact that management didn't give two shits about how bad the room was, they just wanted me to finish it quickly - which was not going to happen. I ended up having another young woman help me because she saw the state of the room and knew I'd be there all day, but the other women just left me to it and went home. It took us near four hours to get the room finished. Four gods damned hours. I got yelled at until the other woman told the manager what the room was like and showed her pictures (I was still new at that point and honestly, I shouldn't have been given a room like that to do while I was still learning the ropes.) I never got an apology for being yelled at, and when it was made apparent that all this manager knew how to do was scream at people and belittle them, I got the hell out of there.

Housekeeping is hard, so I give you major kudos for doing it, and for enjoying it. You're incredibly lucky to have bosses that care about you and are willing to back you and not just take the word of randoms.

dude yess, I'm so glad I'm not the only one that feels that way! I'm at work for another 45 minutes and i'm exhausted lol. But yeah, it sucks every once in awhile. I've dealt with so many weird, creepy guests lmao. like last year I dealt with some creepy dude that wanted me to come up to his room while I was done working. I was like noppppe. No thank you. She just sounds like someone pissed in her cheerios lol

Yessss! We get those types all the time. Sometimes I genuinely wish that guests could see all aspects of the kinds of messes the staff has to deal with. Sure, it's not great walking into a room that has a smudge on the mirror when you just paid $300 for it...but it's a really easy thing to fix, and we have to clean anywhere between 12 and 20 rooms a day - which is a lot when you factor in having to take care of the stay over guests as well. Coffee The hotel industry is tough, for real.

oh the hotel business is great. I work at a hotel as well and I dealt with this guy earlier. He wanted ya know to pay $50 a night for two nights. Well I don't mess with discounts + this weekend is completely sold out so I don't think he was gonna lower the rates to begin with. The guy got all pissy and stormed out lmao. Well ok bye. I'm sure we'll fill up the rest of the rooms with or without you.

I know for a fact that she's done it to at least two of our hospitality group's hotel. Since we're a Hilton brand, we also checked the Hilton records and she's done it at a couple of other Hilton hotels that aren't in our hospitality group. Steve (my boss's boss) actually has her blocked from any of our HG hotels within a 50 mile radius of where we are.

He thinks that she's doing it because she wants the perks of a nice, middle to upperscale hotel, with the price of a Motel 6. That's just not going to happen at our hotel when our rates are usually in the triple digits. Facepalm I'm very, very lucky to have a job where I'm actually appreciated and treated well. Hilton is honestly an amazing company to be a member of.

I'm so glad your bosses sided with you. It makes me wonder how many other people she has done it with, and why she does it. I mean, if all she wants is a discount, then she can go to a cheap hotel and stay there. Goodness. I'm glad she got evicted.
