I love making characters I'm just terrible with the plot helpppp. I usually have an idea on the character before the plot. I usually list (or draw character sheets) how I imagine them to look like, as well as their good/bad traits and quirks, their goals and motives, history/family/etc. Using a character questionnaire is also helpful, I find.

For plot wise, I usually have some idea and just... wing it. I know, I know, I'm terrible! Tomato I hear writing down plans help... but ugh...

I tend think of an idea for a story that's all about a character's motive like, "A princess goes on a journey to look for her missing fiancee who disappeared on the day of their wedding." And then I do what i met worshik. did, list down a few facts about my characters and what not, and just let the story develop their personalities and relationships with each other. I kinda suck at world building (or maybe i haven't really tried my hand at it?) but yet I can come up with a multitude of characters to fill out an entire world.

I feel like I'm really bad at coming up with characters. My characters, I feel like, are always very vanilla - they usually have the same good qualities -
just because I want them to be decent people. Unfortunately, I feel like that kinda weighs me down though. I usually just write down a few key facts about my characters, like their appearance, name, etc., and a bit of a brief bio of them.

I was going to say that I have done questionnaires about my characters, and I was going to link you to the site that helped me do them, BUT I AM JUST FINDING OUT THAT THE SITE IS GONE AND I AM ABSOLUTELY HEARTBROKEN. It was such a good site, too. It was called LitLift, and I think I blogged about it before, but it was so helpful. Like if you were wanting to create a character, it would give you random facts/statements like, "this character has a fear of bats" or "they've been to Spain before" or something along those lines, and if you liked what it generated then cool, you had another aspect about your character, if not, just keep generating. It made for some really cool characters lol. I'm so upset now, the new LitLift it's linking to is nothing like the old one. Cry
