I'm not into tattoos just because there's nothing at I would want on my body for the rest of my life but I would love to have a septum piercing. To me it is a punk-ish kinda thing and I've always had an appreciation that stems from my terrible emo phase. Even though like everyone and their grandma has one.

The only thing that would stop me is my mom and dad who hate body mods (I also had an ex who told me they were gross and he'd hate it if I got one but LOL that is no reason not to get one).

    @ sakura blues.
it’s kind of funny, because i work at a OBGYN clinic and all staff has to cover their tattoos but the doctors on the other hand, do just about whatever they want. and there’s a couple MDs with FULL SLEEVES and they just get to rock their tattoos whenever they want. it makes zero sense. but whatever. lol I don’t know why people get so “mad” or offended by tattoos.

my dad said some of the same things to me about getting tattoos and I’m like - I already have a good job, so back off.

I used to have my nose pierced and would love to do it again, but I wouldn’t be able to have it at work. I just got my daith pierced on Friday and it felt good to have some sort of “rebellion” on me. even if it is just in my ear. hahaha

A very thought provoking blog... I adore - no, I love this blog. As a 23 year old with a nose piercing and a lot of tattoos who aspires to be a paediatric nurse/midwife, a lot of people told me that I'd never get a job, I'd never succeed.

As soon as I got my first tattoo, people, especially the older generation (here's looking at you, Grandma!) told me that no employer would want me because I ruined myself, and tattoos are heavily associated with thugs. I put this judgement aside, and later went on to become a volunteer for the Samaritans, a suicide prevention charity. From there, I worked in a residential home for people with dementia and Alzheimers. I then went on to work in a preschool.

I now have over 10 tattoos. I love every single one.

I was speaking to a nurse who actually looked after me a lot in 2016. I told her about my ambition, and I asked her: "Would my tattoos affect my job application?" and in her honest opinion, as long as the tattoos weren't vulgar or offensive, she couldn't see why such prejudice would be relevant to a persons qualifications and passion for their future.

The way I see it: My tattoos have always served as a conversation starter, and this can work to my advantage, especially working with children. Those who don't like me for my art, and don't see the person I am beneath the ink, are stuck in the 1930s and need to realise, there probably isn't anyone between the ages of 18 - 30 today with no tattoos (this is based around my current location and people I know. I don't know one single person, apart from my mother, Aunt, and grandmother, without a tattoo).

This was a great blog. Thanks for posting!

I personally think style and fashion doesn't make one punk. But that's just me. But I do agree the fashion is still pretty sick.
I kinda wanted a nose ring/piercing myself. The thing that held me back was my ex. He was truly disgusted by piercings(even simple ear piercings!). But now that he is outta of the picture, I kinda am going back to looking how I want to look.

But congrats on your nose piercing!
