Did you reach out to the place he sent a referral? My place didn’t call me, I had to call them after the referral!

My doctor supposedly sent a referral over for therapy and it's been months and I haven't ever heard a word back from them. I'm going to call different places tomorrow and see what I can do. But supposedly the waiting list can be for months and I don't have months.

and It would be terrible to explain it to him like I don't even know where to start. So i'm honestly just going to go with the flow and see where we go. I think once I start working, things won't be so rough.

  • Therapists are helpful, just to have someone to talk to who isn't going to be defensive. Someone who can see it from an outside perspective. As for the house thing, I'd say if you want to buy a house on your own and put it in your name, just make sure you pay for it without him. I do think it's a little difficult though to explain to him that you don't want to purchase it with him. But if it's your money, then I don't see the problem.

Also, I don't know where you're at, but I just went to a doctor and got a referral for a therapist that took my insurance. It really didn't take months here. I went to a doctor (actually someone on my campus) and they referred me to a counseling center. I had to do a walk-in appointment (like a triage appointment) the first time I went, then I was able to be placed with a therapist and schedule regular appointments with her. So far it's been helpful to just have that person and that set time where I'm able to work though everything weighing on me. I hope it works out for you.

Yes definitely! but i've been reading on facebook that it takes months to get a therapist. Wonder if I can find one online that my insurance would cover.

  • I'd say try talking to him but that doesn't seem to work, sadly. The best I can say is see if you can find a place to rent cheaply or buy cheaply (not like how much you'd pay for a small apartment or something) but lik find a small-ish house that would allow you to pay it off in small increments or something? Definitely look for someone (therapist/doctor-wise) to talk to.
