yeah never ever get one of your friends to ask the guy out for you. A lot of people hate that because they think it's childish, so never do that. I think you should just tell him how you feel. and if you aren't comfortable enough with that, then ask him to hang out with you and some of your friends. That way you are talking to him and then he can see how you are and that may cause him to be more comfortable around him and maybe have him ask you out for the dance.
