  • Well. I'd say if you're getting too grown up, you stop. I've grown up and stopped reading or writing slash. I read one one day and thought "why are they having sex in every chapter? Why in every story do they just meet and after that it's like they're having a gang bang?" After that, I just thought of it as porn which I most definately don't need at my age, being as young as I am with a mentality of an old person. Porn is for my mom, where she worked.

  • This, frankly is very interesting/entertaining to read.

  • Hold on. So, I can see your comment and respond at the same time. xD

  • Ray Toro DID ask for people to stop writing MCR slashfic containing sex. It doesn't seem to have worked, in my opinion, as it still seems to be everywhere.

The difference between a real person and a fictional character is that the fictional character doesn't have a life outside that story. Real people do. Real people don't tend to like others picturing them naked and screwing someone.

And you may skip over the sex, but the majority do not. You are right in the sense that I am generalizing, but it's hard to comment on a subject this broad without doing so. Obviously there are exceptions such as yourself.

(And just as a sidenote, I hope you aren't taking any of this personally because frankly, I'm just debating.)

  • Write something that's an extension of yourself. :D The best musicians write songs that are extensions of themselves, the best dancers put theirselves in the way the dance, and the best writers create literature that are extensions of theirselves.

Even if it is sex related. Is that an extension of yourself?

    Your call.

  • PWP is still a story with a plot. Plot being to f*ck someone's brains out.
And, no. I don't read stories for the sex. Most stories I read that contain sex, I skip over. You can't generalize like that when it's not true.

And most mibbians are teenage girls with hormones. It's natural for them to want to read about sex. Isn't it?

And if bands know about it, they could say something along the lines of "stop writing stories about us." and list reasons as to why they didn't want the stories written about them. I'm sure most fans would stop writing about them and find a different band to write about.

People in stories are fictional characters made up. It's still sex. There's no difference other than whether the person actually exists or not. And to be honest, you can't say whether a person in a romance novel is fictional or not. The person could be based on a real person, or the name changed because the author got inspired by them.

I write slash stories. Does that mean I have no respect for the bands I like? No. Does it mean I have no respect for others? No.

  • Yes, but most people read slash for the sex. You can deny it all you want, but it's true. Write a slash and say there will be no sex in it in the short summary and let me know how many comments you get then. And just because it has a plot doesn't make it any different from pornography. Pornos have plots, too. Pornography is basically sex strung together by a contrived storyline written simply to lead to sex.

And yes, bands know you write fanfics about them. It creeps most of them out. MCR was even asked in an interview what they thought. Mikey basically said it freaked him out cos someone sent him a waycest by email. Frank said it was weird/awkward to think about, and Ray explicitly said he didn't mind people writing about them, but to stop making them have sex with you, your friends, and their bandmates.

It's a matter of decency when it all comes down to it. Romance novels are written about FICTIONAL CHARACTERS, so it's not the same idea at all.

  • It's your choice.
Don't let others make the decision about it.
It's your choice to write about anything.
The guys know you write fanfics about them.
    How wouldn't they? It's obvious.
And, like I said before, it shouldn't matter.
And no, it's not porn. It's a story with a plot that happens to have sex.
There's romance novels out there that have sex in there.
    Something wrong with that? No.

  • I sometimes have the same thing in my mind as you do. I'm 16 as well and all I am writing is MCR slash. And people comment on them. Well, if you like doing so, it's nothing wrong with that. Anyway,16 is so not old.
    August 17th, 2008 at 03:47am
  • They like them because they're full of band members having sex. They aren't stories. They're PORN. Do you honestly think band members appreciate you writing about them screwing each other? Really? You're going off of your imagination, so I'd hardly say you're too MATURE to be writing them, but you should be asking yourself if you want to do something so inconsiderate.
