Does anyone have any good cures for insomnia?

I get really bad insomnia, some times worse than other of course, but at the moment, it's not good at all, and it's already playing havoc with my head and work ethic at school.

I'll give you the facts, which I suppose could contribute.
- I sleep on average between six and zero hours per night.
- I sleep in the dark, ie. no lamps or lights anywhere.
- My room temperature fluctuates a lot between very cold and very hot.
- I sleep better when someone else is sharing the room/bed with me.

Can anyone offer any suggestions?
