Looked Down Upon.

I never noticed how truely sad my town was.
The entire area is below the poverty line.
I hate when I tell people where I'm from, and they say they're sorry.
Anytime I have to go somewhere, and meet new people, they always assume I'm poorly educated because of where I've grown up.
Yeah, this place blows chunks, but it's got so much history.
There are people here that could easily make a difference, but they don't because they don't know how.
Or when people move away from this town, and come back to say hi to friends, they always say 'I'm glad I'm gone, I know so much more.'
What the hell?
We have the internet here.
We have good books.
Hell, we have a Walmart!
There's no way that just by living here we're all assumed to be stupid.
I'm not stupid.
Yeah, I'm not the brightest 16 year old either, but I deserve more credit than I'm given by anyone who knows where I'm from.
I want to escape this town so bad, but I'll always know where I was born and raised.
Cahokia, Ill.
Tons of you I'm sure have seen this in your history books.
You might not remember it, but it's there.
Cahokia Mounds.
Indian burial grounds exsist still today!
We still have one right in front of our Shop N Save!
[Weird, I know.]
But we also have the Cahoki Court House.
A semi-huge event took place here.
And the Jarot Mansion.
Holy Family Church.
All these places are in my hometown, and I see them all at least once a week.
We have history that no one knows about.
And stupid people.

Sorry, I just needed to rant about this for a little bit. Thanks for those who read.
