A Rose By Any Other Name Would Smell As Sweet

A rose,
by any other name would smell as sweet.
Is that really true? I think it should be. Should a girl by any other name be less beautiful? Words have an unspeakable effect on us though, an effect that the man who made that quote should know very well; William Shakespeare, he had to know the effect of words. Those very words created his magnificent plays. A word effects our perception of something though; we have feminine words, masculine, sweet, and harsh. If we named a rose joe, would it really seem to smell as sweet or would we have to rearrange our entire language so it would?

I'm not saying I disagree with Shakespeare nor am I saying I do agree, I do agree in some ways and disagree in others. It's merely a thought to ponder. Why not ponder such a beautiful, poetic phrase? I am mumbling on about my inner thoughts. What do you think? Perhaps it could smell sweeter even.

Would a rose by any other name smell as sweet?
