Accents in Stories, Good or Bad?

I'm starting a new story, and a character in it is British. I've seen stories where a British character's dialogue has the accent and some where they don't. I think both are usually fine, but I want to know what other people's opinions are.

My question is, in my story do you think it would be better for me to use the accent or not?

And now I'm just typing to usedup the thirty five more words that I need to be able post this. The story is going to be about Tom Sykes(Oliver Sykes's, vocalist from Bring Me the Horizon, brother) for those of you that want to know.
