I was just listening to Pinks song Dear Mr Presidant and a line in the song "they're all sitting in your cells" made me remember what my local mp replied to my sister when she emailed him talking about how it's not right that a man can rape and murder his sister but only get sent away for 10years or so. The mp replied that it is not up to them, it is the judges that grant the sentances but he thinks they give them shorter sentances than justice because the prisions are over full.
Me and my sister are both passionate about this topic.
It sickens me that there are so many people out in our world doing crimes that the prisons actually become over full. For crimes as vile as murder and rape I believe you should be sent away for life, and life should mean life. You should rot in jail. Think about the victim of rape, how their life must be after. Afraid to go out. Traumatized. And murder. How that persons gift of life has been grabbed and taken from them. How that persons family and friends are afterwards.
It's not right. I really believe this has to change.
Prison sentantces serve no justice.
