Traveling

Day 1

The stress of traveling is overwhelming, this I have figured out from my
many days of traveling. I had just got off the phone from talking to my friend for
about… three hours but you cant blame me when we were going away for a
month, half-way around the world. I also realized the how big and
superfluous the JFK airport was. Really who needed to walk all the way outside
and around to get to the other side of the airport? Especially with two heavy bags
of luggage, made me feel like I was walking around with bricks tied to my hands.
Not to mention the previous cramped flight, my legs had barely any room
and it was highly uncomfortable, and that’s a understatement. I was walking
around aimlessly waiting for our next flight to Paris.
Paris was called and we walked up to give our tickets, the plane was pretty
big and we were sitting down in the right aisle, and of course I got the window
seat, victory! And just when we thought we were going to be alone this man
comes up and sits in the seat the farthest to the left. We were hoping that there
would be other seats where he could move. Guess what there were other empty
seats next to other guys, but guess what, he didn’t move. That was pretty
much the downside besides me spilling my soda. I got to watch seventeen again
which was a good thing but it was kind of a let down but at least they had some
good music… some.

Day 2
We arrive at Paris and all of its petite-ness alive thank goodness. The
airport’s walls was lined with velvet which kept the airport hot, like burning hot.
There was also the longest line ever for the check in. Seriously. Who knew that there would be so many people going to the same place we were. After about an hour and a half of waiting we finally finished and what do we do next? What even more for our next flight. Fun, right?
After we are done we board our next flight to a comfortably sized plane the flight would only be about 2hrs and after that we could rest and stuff. After we had arrived we walked into the airport to be greeted by some doctors that were waiting for Americans to see if the got the swine flu. Luckily they thought I was French so I passed by their radar. It looked like lady luck was on my side, took her long enough. We headed out to see my extended family waiting to greet us. We were back in Algeria after 3 years. We went to my Uncle’s house and stayed there for the night. And knowing that was probably the only time I was going to have internet access I jumped to the computer and told everyone I had arrived safely. Sadly the had a Turkish toilet. Who knew I would miss a English toilet so much?

Day 3

The day was boring. My uncle was gone at his job as a commander in the army so he took the car. Then he came home alive, and we went to Sidi Fredj which is a famous Marina in Algiers, where the French walked on the same sand. The music was blasting and my cousins and I were looking
around. There was an exhibit on cars that we saw. Everyone was amazed
which I found surprising, because all it is was a compact car with door that
opened up and not to the side, with music blasting from its speakers and a
screen on the backseats. I turned to my mom, “Mom, what’s so amazing?”
I asked her. She replied, “it’s a car,”
“im aware that it is a car, but why is it so special?”
“look at the doors,” she replied
“I saw a Lamborghini at Schunuks, this is nothing,”
“Just asked act surprised,” My mom said
“ Oh My God, Oh my God, it’s a car! I never seen anything like this before, Usually
the doors never open I just jump from the window, this is a miracle” I shouted, I
may have over done ‘surprised’ but at least my point came across attracting
attention to everyone.
After that we went to dinner and had barbeque. Then we went back home,
tomorrow would be our last day in Algiers.

Day 4

Today we woke up fairly early to get ready for our next flight to Bejaia,
where I would be spending the rest of the month with my grandparents. The
flight was about 45 minutes. When we arrived we were greeted by my Uncle and
my cousin and then we got a taxi. Who raised the price because I spoke in
English. Which I thought was not fair. We went to the house where my
grandma and grandpa were waiting. Then I talked to my other uncle would leave
tomorrow because of a job he got in Algiers. Then we all went to get a good
nights rest.

Day 5
Today was my first official day in Bejaia and I was excited, when I woke up I
was surprised to find out it was 11 am. Well at least I was time for lunch. I got up
and headed for the kitchen to say all my ‘good mornings’, then I headed out back
to the garden when a huge dog started chasing me and barking, it looked like it
was going to eat me! Seriously. I screamed and headed back inside where my
mom yelled at me for yelling. Make sense, I didn’t think so. I guess exploring the
garden would have to wait. I headed upstairs to bug my cousin. He was the weird
one, like the kid who was blond in the middle of a family with dark hair. Yeah that
was my cousin, Lamine. He had short blond hair and green- brown eyes.
“ Hey,” I said
“hey,” he responded
“What are you doing? “ I asked though it was obvious,
“Watching TV” He responded. That was pretty much how the rest of my day went.
And I had a whole month ahead of me I hoped they were more exciting then that
day. But anyway the important thing was I was with family, right?
