What is up with all the posters?

I was already working on a poster for Science when last week my History teacher informs us we will be doing a poster on the Dark Ages. Then, today my English teacher informs us we will be doing a poster on William Shakespeare very soon. I'm like WTF? The 2nd period my partner (who is totally artistic unlike moi) and I had just turned in our Science poster and then during my next class she tells we have to do another one? It's weird. Now here is my question to you other school kids like myself, is it just my school, or are a lot of schools also doing posters? Answer the questions that haunt me in the comments.
