I liked [insert band here] before [insert their big hit single here].
Let me just tell you how happy I am that you liked something before a band was big. I'm so happy for you. So what? I liked Fall Out Boy back when they were some low-life band from Chicago that nobody cared about. I bet nobody really cares when I say it so what makes us think that we care when you say it?
It doesn't make a difference when you liked the band; if you like them, I'm glad. Don't be so mad that people started to like the band the moment it became mainstream. That means they got popular.
I heard Owl City back when it was a shitty myspace band being thrown around everywhere and I hated Vanilla Twilight (their first big hit except it didn't go mainstream) and once it hit mainstream the song Fireflies got really obnoxious and stuck in my head that I actually started to like it.
