Arrival at the Annexe

Today I went into hiding with my family since we are Jewish. We had to wear lots of clothes and we had to walk in the heat as well. I was tired out by the time we reached our hiding place yesterday at ten am in the morning but I helped to lay the table while Sue helped Mother cook lunch and Lucy helped Father make cupboards using the wood in the spare wood box. After lunch, Mother announced that we were to rest for two hours. Father, Mother and Lucy slept while Sue read a book and I drew a lovely picture of Lottie the cat. At four Mother starts her office work and the rest of us listen to the radio for a hour. Then Mother starts preparing vegetables and rice for dinner. At six pm, we sit down to eat dinner at the table. At six forty five pm we finish eating and Mother washes up while Lucy dries and puts things away. At seven in the evening, we go down to the front office and listen to the radio there for two hours. At nine we go back upstairs and start getting ready for bed. By ten pm, we are all in bed and silence descends upon the Annexe.
