My true love is the slave of a vampire.

So... there have been a million versions of Dracula. Okay, maybe not a million, but a lot.

A few months ago I chose to watch the classic 1931 film, starring Bela Lugosi. I'm a fan of the classics.

Now, Bela Lugosi is a brilliant actor. His voice was breathtaking and his gaze, hypnotic. I thought he was an amazing Dracula, and I could see why he was so popular.

However, I fell in love with Renfield, the crazed slave of Dracula trapped inside Seward Sanitarium. After watching this movie, I was shocked how underrated Dwight Frye's performance was. It's astounding.

I've tried to watch the other Dracula films, but without Dwight Frye's Renfield, it's nothing. Tom Waits is a great actor, and I love Tom Waits, but in my mind Dwight Frye's Renfield will always be the best. I don't care HOW different from the book it was. I love that man.

He's so adorable. Please, look watch at least the first five minutes and you'll see why I love him so much. His insanity, his face, his voice, his little laugh...

I want to cry every time stupid Martin takes his spider away. :(
