Im refalling in love with my instruments (help with drums)

Spring break is here and ill have to admit that for a while I haven't been keeping up with my istruments.

I play guitar and i've been stressing my guitar teacher out by coming to lessons barely prepared, and as an effect of that being completely lost with all this music theory crap. But since Friday which was the start of spring break, all i've been doing is sleeping and playing guitar. Recently I learned "Interstate Love Song" by Stone Temple Pilots and the first half of "Over the Hills And Far Away" by Zeppelin.

And drums I've kinda been learning by ear recently. I got my set in November and its pretty standard with bass drum, snare, two rack toms and a floor tom. I haven't really been encouraged to play because all my drums have like a really "sharp" echoe. Does anyone know how to fix or dampen the sound of my drums? Oh and I only have one small crash cymbal and a crappy hihat.
I plan on buying at least a ride cymbal by the end of this week.

Well anyways thats all for now C:
