Love, Marriage, Cynicism, Disney

Is it just me or are people becoming more and more cynical? Ideas of love and marriage, romance, friendship and loyalty are often mocked by sharp-tongued, quick-witted cynics with a little too much opinion than really necessary. Call me old-fashioned but I do believe in ‘true love’, want the ‘fairytale wedding’, fiercely fight for my true friends and have a heart that breaks for too easily for my liking. Is this really so bad though? Maybe I have watched a little too much Disney, but how are cynics really helping anyone? There is no way anyone can prove love or happiness exists, except to themselves, so why not believe? Why not leave yourself open to the possibility of being swept off your feet? What gets me though, is when these people try and force their opinion onto me. I am intelligent enough to understand it at normal decibel level, shouting it for the third time isn’t going to change my views. So I ask you, what’s so wrong with believing in love? Marriage? Why not? AND... finally, why are so many people opting for the overly cynical viewpoint these days?
