What Makes a Good Writer?

I have been thinking about a answer to this question for...well, forever.

I know the first rule is that your grammer/sentance structure has to be moderate. Otherwise, people would not be able to get through the first paragrah.

And let's say you are a grammer freak, an English major, or what have you. Does that automatically make you a good writer? Yes in the sense that you can write gramatically correct sentances.

I have read so many stories that have the potential, but lacked the spelling, grammer, etc. So many authors out there have the imagination to make an amazing story, but can't due to their lack of grammer skills.

So I guess my question is: Would you rather read a story with perfect grammer and a solid plot or struggle through a gramatically incorrect story with an amazing, edge-of-your-seat plot?

Furthermore, I would like to hear what you guys like about some authors. What is it about the way they write, their style, that keeps you coming back?

Much love,
Night Writer
