Summer

Summer time I can feel the warm air surrounding my body, the warm heat seeping into my skin. When I was little I would spend my whole day outside soaking up the sun and sucking down as many popcycles I could get my hands on. The cherry flavored ones were always my favorite. The way they stained my lips blood red made me feel like I was older with bright colored lipstick on. Now whenever I taste the sweet icy cold flavors on my tongue it takes me back to when I was seven years old sitting in my back yard trying to figure out what to do with the rest of my day. I would just close my eyes and listen to the trees; sometimes I would think if you listen close enough you could hear God’s whispers in the wind. Often times I wouldn’t do anything just sit on that back step and wait. I never knew exactly what I was waiting for, something amazing I guess. My mom used to always ask me what I was waiting for; I never knew how to answer the question it all made since in my head yet trying to tell someone was absolutely in possible to me.
