I'm going to apply to the Alabama School of Fine Arts. The creative writing program, specifically. It's this school (in Alabama, obviously) grades 7-12. You have to apply for a specific program (creative writing, dance, math and science, music, theatre arts, or visual arts). You have to be really good to be accepted.
It's from eight in the morning to four-thirty in the afternoon. The days are so long because you take all the normal classes plus two, ninety minute classes for the program you applied for. You can get into like, whatever college you want (almost).
I have to submit five to ten poems, ten to twenty pages of nonfiction prose and/or short fiction, three pages or less expressing why I want to go there, three recommendations from teachers, be interviewed for fifteen minutes by the Creative Writing Audition Committee, and will be given a 75 minute writing assignment. It's hard, but I think I can do it.
Anyway, I'm really looking forward to it. I just wanted to share my excitement and good new with someone.
