ME! ME! ME!
Oh my God. I was watching that movie, Whip It, and it looks so much fun. Yesssss, I know it's dangerous, and it could leave you permanantly damaged, BUT IT LOOKS SO FUN! The thrill of having a reason to elbow a girl in the ribs is good with me. :D
Seriously, the idea of the sport just sounds exciting to me. Racing around a wooden rink in roller skates, trying to knock the opposing jammers out so she can't score for her team, with tons of people cheering us on? The adrenaline it'd give just seems so... EXCITING. Haha.
My friend Banu and I have decided that if we could find a team, then count us in. I'm possibly getting roller skates for my birthday (9 days! Seventeen, whoop whoop!) which is probably a good place to start. Toss Banu into then, sharpen up out elbows and all systems go!
On the darker side of, yes I HAVE googled it, read over it, and sussed out all the dangers, looked at the images of the scary bruises, but it didn't seem to put me off. I've always been the one who'd accidentally wall into a glass door, or face plant into the ground from a simple shove. The pain isn't what worries me, and thats probably a good thing in this sport.
