SECOND LIFE

Shouts, screams, cries
Tommy wants to leave and fly away
Alcoholic father breaks the windows in the house, the house of lies
Tommy wants to run but always chooses to stay
Tommy is one person but hes cut in half
School is his safe house, home is jail
Mother is always asleep; dad wants you to feel his wrath

The eviction notice falls from the door
Cigarette smoke burns in the air
Bills on the table, broken tables on the floor
Tommy turns to leave and is stopped by a smack of a strong hand
Tommy sits and does his homework and begins to reminisce

They tell him hes a good kid and bright his parents should be proud! This he can’t stand.

I have news and by the time I tell you it will be no use

Tommy doesn’t belong here, he’s living a second life
