I need help on writing.

I feel like i'm boring my readers when i post my chapters. I really want ideas to spice up my stories, help to make them less boring, and just everyday tips i could use to make it more fun to read. I know i could add everyday events like teenage pregnancy or family member with cancer but i feel like that is added so much in stories people are sick of them. Also i am currently writing a Harry Potter fanfiction and i need something magical and creative to add in since the more interesting parts don't happen until the fourth book/fourth movie. thank you if you help!
