Song of the Day: 01.24.11

So, today’s song of the day might be posted, as I write this, tomorrow since there is technically only 15 minutes left to this day. But I will post this anyways as today’s song of the day, even if it is tomorrow.

Got it? XD

So, today’s song is by one of my favorite bands, Tokio Hotel! This song is just… I don’t know it’s like I’m transported to another dimension and suddenly everything is no long relevant. Pretty much, this is a GREAT song if you are feeling down for any reasons, even if you can’t understand the lyrics.

I first saw Tokio Hotel on.... Fuse or MTV, not sure, at the end of 2007. One of my friends talked about the music video at school and I had remembered seeing, but not really catching the band of song title. I later found out that I’d watched Ready, Set, Go! by them and I was really impressed. About… April of the next year, that video got more airplay on Fuse, so I was watching it more, and as I did, I was actually paying attention to that video and the song.

At first, when I looked them up just to watch the video online, I read comments about someone in the band being a girl and yada yada, you know how that goes. Well, that just fed into my conclusions that the guitarist HAD to be a girl, then, because that was the only person in the video that wasn’t an obvious gender. That and I was still in the mind frame of Lady Soverin who’d had dreads, or something similar and dressed like Tom did. What made it harder for me was that in the performance shots, he was looking down, so I just seen the skin colored cap he was wearing.

Well, I have bad eyesight, and I really did then before I got my new glasses at the time. So I thought at first that the cap was a face and me not being able to see too well, thought that it was a girl because of that.

I researched more online about them in May and came to the conclusion that they were all men. XD I still don’t get how people can mistake Bill for a girl, especially by watching RSG and Monsoon. I mean, sure he wears make-up, but what other guy in a band doesn’t? Sure, those people probably didn’t have the musical background I did where the bands I listened to tended to have some type of make-up on, weather it was theatrical or eyeliner.

ANYWAY, (it is now tomorrow, so this will be posted at day late, I guess, but I’ll label it accordingly), that summer, my best friend and I really got into them and went to see them in concert when they came over. I have to tell you, that was the ONLY concert I’ve been to with so many screaming girls! I mean, sure every band has girls that love them, but not like this! I was… 17, I think, but my maturity level was much higher than that it felt while standing in line surrounded by these younger girls who were giggling and stuff. Yes, there were older fans too, but it was a bit insane during the concert where I could hear the girl screaming in my ear about her love for Bill more than I could hear the band.

Anyway, the concert was sweet anyway and the next day we got their autographs from a signing session they had in the malls Hot Topic near the concert. :]

Now, some of the versions on YouTube with lyric translations suck, so we’re just going to watch a video with the German lyrics on it, so at least you guys and see the words while listening. :]

Anyway: Here it iss!

Now the questions for you:

1 Are you a fan of Tokio Hotel? If so, when did you get into them and what is your favorite song by them. If not, did you like what you heard? If not because of the language go listen to some of their English stuff, come back and then tell me your opinion. :]

2 Do you like music in languages other than your native tongue? Do you speak another language that is not English?

3 What did you think of today’s song of the day? Any recommendations for future SOTD?
