Song of the Day: 01. 27.11

Today’s Song of the Day theme is 90’s!

Well, I was born in 1991, so music of the 90’s for me wasn’t a big thing until I was a bit older, from what I remember. But when I was only a month or so old, there’s a video of me moving excitably to Guns N Roses Paradise City at my parents wedding, and when I was older, not knowing until years later that it was played at their wedding, I was drawn to that song on the GNR CD my parents had.

When I was growing up, the first bands that I remember listening to on my own, I think, were Backstreet Boys, N*Sync, Britney Spears, and Aaron Cater (those were the main ones that I REALLY remember the most, but I know that because some of the people at school were listening to Spice Girls that I kinda liked them, but totally not as much.)

I remember one of the times that my cousins visited, they had with them Kid Rock’s Devil Without a Cause tape and I don’t actually remember them playing it for me and my sister or anything, but I do remember them giving me the tape and I loved it so much. I would walk in a circle through the house (mine and my sisters bedroom and two doors, one going to the kitchen with the bathroom right there, and the other going into the living room. The kitchen led into the dinning room which led into the living room and so on…) with my tape player listening to that tape on repeat and singing along. I also rode my big wheal then my bike around the block doing the same thing. I eventually broke the tape and ended up buying the CD. I mean, we even had a Kid Rock poster on our Toy Box. XD

I also remember that my aunt had given me and my sister a tape of Madonna’s and the only two songs that I remember on that were Holiday and Lucky Star because we played those over and hover and danced to them and stuff. I think it was a single tape or something. I dunno. XD

Linkin Park was the next big band, but that wasn’t until the 2000’s so I’ll leave them for a different themed blog!

So, the reason that I am giving you this information is because 1) I just wanted to tell you and 2) on today’s SOTD, I am going to have two songs, my favorite song from my childhood and a song I like NOW from the 90’s. :]

So, my favorite song was either Everybody (Backstreets Back) by The Backstreet Boys or Bawitdaba by Kid Rock. Instead of posting both songs and then ending up with three in this blog, I’ll post Kid Rock’s because I absolutely LOVED that song.

Now, the song that I like/love NOW from the 90’s. This is going to be much more difficult. There are SO many bands from the 90’s that made such great music that I am glad to be into. I kinda wish that I was a teen in the 90’s, but at the same time, I’m glad that I am enjoying the music now, after having some time going past. I mean the majority of that era in music are still around (it really hasn’t been THAT long, so this really isn’t meaning much!) and still influencing teenagers.

So.. I think my favorite song now is either ANYTHING from Green Day or Sweet Child of Mine by Guns N Roses. Now, I am going to leave the Green Day thing alone for a different day because that need to be on its own for me to be able to tackle that one.

So, Sweet Child of Mine is just… pure awesome. Listen!

So my questions:

1) How old were YOU through the 90’s?
2) What was your favorite song/artist then? What is your favorite song/artist from that same decade now?
3) What do you think of these songs? Do you have any recommendations for future SOTD blogs?
