How are we supposed to....

How do non-gorgeous girls like myself compete against all the gorgeous girls in the world?

Guys tend to focus on the looks of a girl first to draw their attention, rather than the way they act around their friends (personality). You can't control the thoughts of guys, but what about those girls who get left behind because they look like some super model who just walked off the runway? The guy never gives them a second glance, let a lone try to strick up a conversation with them.

Can anyone tell me why that is? I've never understood why guys are attracted to shallowness and good looks rather than personality. (not to say gorgeous girls are all shallow, definately not what I mean)
