Osama Bin Ladin is Dead

Osama Bin Ladan is dead.
The rest of the nation cries out in relief and the rest of the world joins the celebration. Streets are filled with people laughing and singing. And while I watch them, I cannot help but fight this sense of loss, this sense of mourning. How far have we come if we celebrate the death of another human being. How far have we come if we celebrate the people who pulled the trigger. There is more blood on their hands, more death looming in their lives.
I mourn not for the death of a terrorist but for the death of humanity, for the death of the sanctity of life. I pray for those who have felt the terror that Bin Ladan brought but by no means will I thank the powers of the universe for the death of a human being.
