Band Fic Epidemic?

Like any writer on Mibba, I sometimes explore the 'Writing Contests' forums available, to check out the contests.

And I've noticed a particular trend.

'All Time Low band fic'
'Avenged Sevenfold sex scene'
'Frerard love contest'

... Oh, my.

I know everybody has their own little nook in the writing world, their comfort zone of genres. But band fiction? Slash band fiction? It's a little bit over the line for me. Sometimes, not always, I have found great contests on those forums.

'Sworn to Sexual secrecy [band fiction] Replies: 40 Readers: 223

Really?
I know retelling Shakespeare isn't really a hooking idea for most people, but aspiring writers? It should be. Not smut scenes between two men that aren't even gay.
It's bordering on creepy.
The most popular from what I've seen, is Escape the Fate, Avenged Sevenfold, All Time Low, etc, etc, etc.
Jeez.
Write whatever you like, I'm not judging. But the forums section is actually LITTERED with My Chemical Romance, Bring me the Horizon fics.

Oh, and the kidnapping fics? Quite strange. Even more so than two band members going gay for each other. (Unless they are gay. I wouldn't know.)

We really should try to explore other genres. If you don't want to, then that's okay.
Just another trend I've noticed that seems to be swallowing up all of Mibba..
