Reasons for your Religion?

Religion is a very controversial topic not just on here, but anywhere really. I'm writing this journal because I'm curious as to why you follow the religion you believe in or why you don't have a religion. Maybe you believe in God because it gives you hope that there is a better life out there or that the world isn't all bad. Maybe because you were raised to follow a certain faith and it's all you know or it's comfortable for you. Maybe you've been through a lot and God or any other spiritual being was never there for you so you don't believe in a higher power. Or perhaps you're confused about religion. Regardless of what you believe for the sake of discussion, I'm wondering why you feel as you do.
