You'd like to believe, when you log onto a writing site, that you've just joined an intelligent community.

On a day like this, you would like to be able to expect that people be respectful or, at least, silent.

Unfortunately, the intelligence is lacking. And I don't have time for it.

I'll leave you with this:

There is nothing funny, nothing amusing, about the death of thousands of people.

There is nothing funny, nothing amusing, about the repercussions that followed this tragedy.

There is nothing funny, nothing amusing, about being an American.

It is obviously too hard to relate to a grieving country. Obviously, a waste of time. Obviously, some in our little community here don't seem to understand cause and effect.

Don't seem to understand that, wether or not they're American, wether or not they knew someone who died in the Towers, this changed their life forever.

It changed the world, and not for the better.

So be respectful or, at least, silent.
